Delegates to Girls' State spend a week at USC, in the state capital, learning about the processes of government and pub- lic elections. The girls are elected to offices and have sessions in the actual State Supreme Court, State House, and Senate. The week of long campaigning ends with the election of a governor and lieutenant-governor. Girls' State Delegates: Mary Gcnier, Lisa Dixon, Kellie Brabham. Boys' State Delegates: Billy Little, Kenny Skaggs, Scott Morris, Ronnie Bailey. tNot Picturedj Scott Foulds. 90 Boys, State is a week of mock govern- mental sessions just like Girls, State. However, the boys spend their week at the historic Citadel, a week full of cam- paigns and elections. At the end, the gov- ernor and lieutenant-governor are sworn in aboard the U.S.S. YORKTOWN in Charleston harbor.

Model UN Delegates, selected because of their outstanding awareness of current events and their interest in world affairs, participate in a mock UN session for a week at Winthrop College. These students seek to find hypothetical solutions to today's problems in order to prepare to be tomor- row's leaders. These stu- dents have achieved the highest scores at the auditions held in the fall. Their annual concert displays the musical talent pos- sessed by each member of the Chorus. 91
