Superior class rank and grade-point ratio are the determin- ing factors in the choice of students. The chief responsibility of Junior Marshals is ushering at commencement exercises at the close of the school year. This yearls select group includes twenty-six high-ranking Juniors. The Rensselaer Science and Math Award: David Duffy. The Rensselaer Science and Math Award, a handsome bronze med- al, is presented to the rising Senior who has attained the highest academic average in science and science-related subjects. The medal encourages outstanding students to attend the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York. This award is one of the most coveted of all high-school honors. 99

The Bausch and Lomb Science Award is given to the Senior student who has attained the highest scholastic standing in science subjects. The recipient of this award is eligible to com- pete for one of several scholarships that range up to 56,500 per year. Selection to the Governor's School of the Arts honors those students who have exceptional artistic abilities. Applicants au- dition in the fields of music, drama, and creative writing.
