With an increase in participation and a show of talent, the 1982 Lady Cats have hopes of developing a top-notch track team. For the past couple of years the Team's strengths have come from this year 's Sen- iors: Anita Blake at the quarter mile, Connie Eish running the half mile, and Jocelyn Hy- att throwing the discus and shot. With quite a few additions to this talent, the Team, coached by Debbie Hammond, has plans for a more solid unit to perform consistently well against the oppo- sition. BUYS' TRACK TEAM 51,5 as Sitting fLeft to Rightj: Jim Koterba, Mark Watkins, Brian Gordon, Terry Mitchell, George Cherry, Charles McGriff, Wanky Moore. Kneeling: Keith Roper, David Robertson, Mike Jennings, Daren Ashley, Dusty Singleton, Billy Barefoot, Kenneth Steele, Darryl Wherry, Ankey Heath. Standing: Jeff Brown, Rex Craft, Randy Brock, Brian Benfield, R. J. Ochoa, Chip Hutchison, Bernard McCullough, Rick Peeler, Howard Mitchell. The track team must practice many long, 188 hard hours to prepare for the meets. The 1981 Track Team, under the coach- ing of Y. C. Winborn, accomplished many goals during their active season. The team placed tenth in the Carolina Invitational, fourth in the Furman Invita- tional, eighth in the Optimist Relays, fourth in the Trojan Relays, third in Re- gion II AAAA meet, fourth in Upper State AAAA meet, and tenth in State AAAA meet. Benet Massey and Calvin Pickett led all scorers with 284 and 210 points respectively. The Bearcats ended their dual meet season with a record of 10 wins and 3 losses which placed them third in Region II AAAA.
