- -.-rg., - - -il! ..- , - li. ,-,J :fl 1- 1 I li! lass Ziamsturp The Class of 1960 now is marching down the aisle. Behind us is the school that we have lived in for awhile- Lived in, laughed in, worked and played in, Cut up, gotten caught, and stayed-in! Thoughts of mischief fast are fadin' . . . Tears are shed with half a smile. Sounding through the halls of mem'ry, names of shepherds of our flock: BILLY NIES-President of the Senior Class, Football Co-captain with KEN HUMPHRlES PARKER MICKLE-President of the Student Council FRAN BURGESS-Editor of the Garnet 81 Black MARGARET RUSSELL-Editor of the Bearcat We brought our brains to Rock Hill High Just slightly wrinkled, lightly used, And slowly built a frdme for learning Based on beams of knowledge fused. We came with hollow hearts that day- The heart more empty than the head- Afraid of . . . something, everything! But as we learned, our souls were fed. We've filled our hollow hearts with friends, With love, and Moments to Remember. lnto each year the old year .blends And warms us like a glowing ember. Picture when we frantic freshmen- Sandwiched-in amid the frenzy- Heard Professor Godbold say the first time 'Cause today is Wednesday ! Everyone felt strange at first, But each was part of High School soon. And proudly our band marched and played Beneath Mia-mi's winter moon. Hear ye the results of our first election: Jean Arthur White, President, Jimmy Jacobs, Vice-President, Ann Story, Secretary and Treasurer. LOOK OUT!! lt's a teen-age zombie! A maniac! NO-a super Soph'more Triumphantly next year we swarmed Upon our Alma Mater dear- The Conquering Heroes of the Frosh- We carried out our Reign of Fear . . . fled by Glenn Lumpkin, President, Ann Littlefield, Secretary, Jane Jennings, Treasurer, Ken Humphries, Vice- President! .i.l,. We came more humble to our task, More bent by books, more fit to work, Less things to tell, and more to ask. Cheerleaders, athletes, and marshals were we, And thespians ably performing on stage. Dramatically, something delightful to see Was our masterful Junior Class Play- Act Your Age. Class rings! We ordered andwore them with pride! Junior Senior in Hawaii-what a wonderful dance! Then came the graduation of our friends true and tried- And the boom dropped upon us: it would soon be our chance! Junior Class Officers: Ken Humphries, President Sammie Youngblood, Secretary Walter Griffith, Treasurer Parker Mickle, Vice-President We sing to thee, our Alma Mater . . . As Seniors, a few of us know the whole song! We can sing it with pride and with loyalty true As we think on our high school career--four years long! Girl Crazy performed by the Seniors, a smash hit! 'The Play Cast is having a party-l.et's crash it!' Are ya going to the sock hop? We're having a band!! Didia study? Sure, l've got it in the palm of my hand! CPD Through a rollicking, politic-ing, Senior Session of Strategic Struggles, we look up to Eddie Phillips, Vice-President, Carol Phillips, Secretary, and Donnie Dobbins, Treasurer. Now the Curtain of Night Time is falling on high school, The Dawn of the Future glows faintly ahead . . . Beyond it the Long Day of Life waits for each one, The Path of Tomorrow is there to be tread. As swiftly through joys of the future we dance And slowly through trials and sad times we plod, May the Blessings of Heaven bring peace to each life- 'Til we meet in the Twilight with God!
