NOT PICTURED: Richard Nelson, Secretary. The Trade and Industrial Club is composed of eleventh and twelfth grade students who take the Diversified Occupations course and Industrial Arts courses. The local club is affiliated with the S. C. Trade and Industrial Club. The purposes of this club are: To encourage better habits of work, both in school and on the job, to promote better human relations between em- ployers and student learnersg to study the local need for the vocational training of youth and adults, to offer exploratory courses in some of the trade and industrial type jobs. Club officers attend a Leadership Conference held at the State Club's Camp, and officers and representatives attend the annual convention of the State Club held in Columbia, S. C. To develop progressive leadership in the field of distribution that is competent, aggressive, self-re- liant, and cooperative. b. To provide for an intelligent choice of occu- pations in distribution through the exploration of op- portunities in the field. c. To create in each member an abiding interest in his chosen occupation through the opportunity it offers him to contribute his share in a worthy home and community membership. d. To encourage the use of high ethical stan- dards in business. e. To provide for mental and physical health through satisfactory social and recreational activi- ties. f. To foster or deep feeling of responsibility for contributing through business activities to the civic, social, and moral welfare of society. g. To develop an appreciation of the fine arts in business. h.
