CLASS HI TORY hard but we just knew that we would share a fate similar to the lost colony's. After a few weeks, with the gracious assistance of our teachers and upperclassmen, we soon began to clear away a few tangled impressions. We gradually became accustomed to Latin declensions and alge- braic equations. We soon discovered that we were evidently ceasing to be foreigners or tenderfeet. A bind- ing force known as school spirit began to develop. We elected Jerry Hartsell as our leader. One puzzled in filing CLASS HISTORY As our freshman year drew to a close, we could look back with pride. We had passed the first test. Socially we had been successful. We know what an enjoyable life we could make at high schoolg how- ever, we did not look back for long, but looked for- ward to our year as sophomores when we would reap an even better harvest and be more settled in school life. The following fall when we again entered the halls of Rock Hill High, it was with a feeling of self- confidence. The very familiarity of the school in- spired us. More hard work was in store for us, we knewg but as sophisticated sophomores, we felt we could tackle the job. Our school spirit had grown tremendously. We held our class meetings and elected Ronnie Long as president of the Sophomore Class. Our in- terest in club work was stimulated for there were THE SENIOR CLASS Rebecca Conrad blondie-likeable Bernie Cook brown eyes- easy going Ernestine Covington industrious-neat Wk , , wh-of Walter Covington l'6S6l'V6d+SiI'lC6l'6 John Dean Crenshaw crew cutitalkative Jane Crosby efficient-cute Qhfgg L- ilu...--.
