CLASS HI TORY hard but we just knew that we would share a fate similar to the lost colony's. After a few weeks, with the gracious assistance of our teachers and upperclassmen, we soon began to clear away a few tangled impressions. We gradually became accustomed to Latin declensions and alge- braic equations. We soon discovered that we were evidently ceasing to be foreigners or tenderfeet. A bind- ing force known as school spirit began to develop. We elected Jerry Hartsell as our leader. LASS HI TORY The history of the Class of 1957 may not seem different from other class histories to some, but to us, it is unique, for it is our history. On the fine September morning when we, as freshmen, first came to our Alma Mater, we felt as though we were entering a new world, one which we were eager to explore, however, upon entering the building and encountering the huge crowd that made up the student body, we were overcome by a feeling of apprehension. There were so many stu- dents and so many buildingsg so unlike our grammar schools. After we were seated in the auditorium, we were greeted by our principal, Mr. Godbold, and the routine and rules of the school were explained. We became even more perplexed as we received our schedule cards and were left with the problem of finding the right class at the right time.
