A CE B The Dance Band offers the boys and girls an opportunity to study and perform dance music. This will give them a work- ing knowledge of this type of music if they desire to participate after graduation. The band performs for all home basketball games and for any school or civic organization desiring its services. Basically it is a Dixieland group. The purpose is to acquaint the group with Dixieland music. 1-............. gg'-w Ne X -.,-1 k,- THE ROCK HILL HIGH CHOOL BA D The Rock Hill High School Band is under the direc- tion of Mr. Alfonso Nicosia and assisted by Mr. Louie Hoff. The band consists of 115 members and has been highly recognized this year. Invited to represent- the University of South Carolina in the U.S.C.-Wake Forest football game in Charlotte, the band received a standing ovation from more than 12,000 spectators for their famed Toast to the South half-time show. Participating in the Fort Mill, Lancaster, and Rock Hill Christmas Parades, the band received a trophy for being the best band in the parade in Rock Hill. The band participates in the District and State Music Festivals in the marching, sight reading, concert, solo, and baton events. For many years, the band has re- ceived excellent and superior ratings. One of the outstanding activities of the band is the annual Hi-Lites show consisting of a variety of num- bers, comedies, skits, and other acts. The Hi-Lites has been well received in the past and the band hopes for future success. Other activities of the band include performing at football games, chapel programs, and other school and civic events. Invited by the Orange Bowl Committee to partici- pate in the Orange Bowl Festivities, the band was sent to Miami, Florida, for a five day visit by the citizens of Rock Hill, headed by numerous public spirited citi- zens who contributed extensively in time, work, and financial assistance. Special activities of the trip were a night's stay at Daytona Beach, marching in the Orange Bowl Parade of 22 blocks, guests of the Orange Bowl at the Clemson-Colorado game, Fire Pageant, where the band received high recognition for their show. Toast to the South, sight seeing at Silver Springs and other outstanding events. Our band is a source of pride to every member and has become a source of pride to Rock Hill High School.
