TINKLER Captain End ing was over, George, Butch Phillips, and lim Neal each had two touchdowns, Saverance one, and Grice had one touchdown and five extra points. ln addition to the players already mentioned, tackles, Swain Wright and Iohnny Brunson, and guard, Billy McGill were great in the line. Ted Bobinson and Gary Stephens also turned in fine backfield jobs. ROCK HILL 39 LANCASTER 0 The Bearcats played probably their best game of the season against the Purple Hurri- canes at Lancaster. The Hurricanes made the mistake of letting the word get around that this was the year they were going to take the Bear- cats. They had a good team and they wanted to win. The Rock Hillians, however, soon ruined their hopes. With Buck George running brilliantly the Bearcats posted a 30 to 0 victory in their scrap- book. George collected three touchdowns, one an electrifying 82-yard punt return on the last play of the first half. Saverance got two touch- downs, including a 75-yard run from scrimmage, and the final tally came on a 26-yard pass from Ted Robinson to Larry Connor. The entire Bock Hill line was terrific. Lan- caster made only one first down. ROCK HILL 7 SUMTER 27 Sumter was at this stage of the season prob- ably the best team in the state. The Bearcats were primed for an upset, and when the Friday night game time arrived the 'Cats were ready and rarin'. At game time, however, torrents of rain swept over the Bock Hill Stadium and the game was postponed until Saturday night. Then it was delayed until Monday night. The Gamecocks finally proved to the 4,300 fans at the Stadium that they were a good club. MCGILI. NEAL WILLIAMS Guard Back Tackle
