Y., Xl On a beautiful day late in the month of August, 1947, nineteen shy, backward, little children walked into Mrs. 5ritt's first and second grade room for the first time, There were others there, too, but they were big second grad zrs. In the years to come, many would come and go, but the ones who have been at Rock Creek through all our chool life are Gary Bowman, Karen Brown, Melvin Crago, David Pursifull, Vern Pursifull, Jacqueline Reber, Herb lesler, and Diane Summers. Meanwhile, at Markle, Indiana, Janet McBride, Pamela Peeper, and Jerry West were :ntering Miss Benson's room to begin their school careers, The next year, 1948, we gained another colleague, Harvey Brown, and our class now had twelve permanent nembers. ' It wasn't until our fourth year, 1951, that we grew again, when Nathan Brown enrolled, We stayed there, at ourteen members, until 1953, when we got another playmate, Betty White. In our eighth year, when we were almost big , Glenda Vaught joined the clan, Then 1955 rolled around, and we were now full-fledged Greenies , Amidst the bewilderment of our new life George Mower walked in, to help add to the confusion. Our sophomore year was a momentous one, because Markle High School was closed, which meant that Janet, 'am, and Jerry came over to help us cut up , Also, that was the year our last two members showed up--Roger Up- -egraft and Larry Surface--boosting the grand total to eighteen, Thus, through the years, the class of 1959 has emerged, to work and play with one another, lompliments of NETER'S BAKERY, Huntington, Indiana OMMUNITY STATE BANK, North Jefferson Street, Huntington, Indiana
