COmmUHlI ORGAHIZAIIOD In November of 1952 the Rock Creek Band Society became known as the Rock Creek Community Organization, its object being to organize all persons affiliated with and interested in the improvement of the Rock Creek School system. Since that time the organization has provided some entertaining as well as educational presentations. We hope it continues its outstanding contributions to the community. lo FF' s R 6,6 gi? if O L lu . '- S. 1 -w, 4 Ht I4 I O 3 'x KAX A ff' Z V J r .AWE '. The Rock Creek Alumni Association held their yearly meeting on April 30. On this occasion they welcomed the senior class of 55 into the organization. We, the new Alums and former students hope that the Alumni Association shall find renewed interest in the Alma Mater with every coming meeting. The Seniors of 55. Those present on that memorable occasion were Jack Boyer. Sandra Burton, Alice Grove, Larry Hand, Larry Nelson, Joyce Perry, Rex Perry, Jim Pursifull, Ted Pursifull, Neta Slagel, David Smith, Billy Sparks, Gail Tribolet, Larry Whinery, Dan Woods, Eloisa Ybarra, and Betty Day. These same nineteen went on to the uneventful second grade and a new teacher, Mrs. Anna Britt. The third grade saw us gain four new classmates, Lois Geiger, Alice Gentis, Carmen Ralston, and Virginia Hall, and also a new teacher, Mrs. Lela Smith. We gained one new member in the fourth grade by the name of Edward Harlan and lost to Huntington Township, our old friend, Larry Nelson, but we still were privileged to have the same teacher for the first time in our school career. Mrs. Hazel Mitchell was our fifth grade teacher. That year we gained a sweet little girl, whose name was Patricia Close. She later moved to Ohio. Soon after, we lost our new friend, Eddie Harlan, when he moved to Indianapolis. Our total number in the sixth grade was eighteen. We had gained one new member, Joyce Manning. Our teacher was Mrs. Bernice Fulton, wife of our senior class sponsor. In the seventh grade, we had nineteen members, having gained Donald Buck and Arnold Hines, while losing Joyce Manning to Lancaster. We were feeling proud because we were privi- ledged to climb two extra flights of stairs. Eighth grade saw us with eighteen members. Betty Day and Eloisa Ybarra left us but we were joined by an illustrious southern gentleman, Carl Feemster, In the ninth grade, we had atotal of nineteen, this being the year of our unforgettable fresh- man initiation. New members were Ron Jordan and Betty Rhoades. Mr. James Crothers was our class sponsor. Later we were joined by Nancy Thornpkins, while Betty Rhoades moved away. We began our sophomore year with the same number of students. The most horrible ex- perience of our sophomore year was the burning of the school's bus barn in October. Mr. James Crothers still remained our class sponsor. In our junior year, we were sixteen in number, Nancy Tompkins having left us during the summer. This year, our class sponsor was Mrs. Virginia Michael. As graduation nears, we find ourselves with thirteen seniors, Virginia Hall a.nd Larry Hand having left us. Our class sponsor is Mr. Charles Fulton. When April 27 arrives, the following thirteen seniors will depart, Joyce Perry, Delphia Lahr, Lois Geiger, Carmen Ralston, Neta Slagel, Alice Grove, Dave Smith, Larry Whinery, Ron Jordan, Rex Perry, Gail Tribolet, Carl Feemster, and Bill Sparks, having gained knowledge, experience, and invaluable friendships and looking ahead to a great and glorious future. MT -19 ix L'la s P opilecy In 1975 on an expedition trip a few of their fellow juniors happened to come upon the seniors of 55. Throughout the country we came upon all of them, as they were toiling in their roles of life. As we left the Indianapolis airport, a flashing stewardess came through the plane and asked if we were comfortable. To our surprise it was Delphia Lahr. We asked her how she was, and she sadly replied, My heart still cries for Dennis. Our first stop was in Paris, France, and, as we toured the French Riviera, we found the former Carmen Ralston, a famous model in her French husband's Fashion Salon. He was the great Monsieur Pierre. Later as we were passinga.nAmerican army station in Paris, we found General Gail Tribolet and the still-Private Carl Feemster. They said they were working in a secret hydrogen bomb plant. Carl spoke of Neta and his four children and asked if we could stop at Hono Poke, Alaska, and pay them a visit on our way home. We went on to Rome, Italy, and there we found Larry Whinery. He told us of his world-wide business. He was President of Purdue University and looking for exchange students for Purdue. We made a quick trip toward home. We landed at San Francisco, and while touring the town we found Alice Grove. She was working as Eddie Fisher's personal maid. She said Debbie was fine. Sob Sob. We flew down to Hollywood and found Billy Sparks, the now famous opera star making his grand debut in the Holly- wood Bowl. We saw the former Lesley Lyons, who was Bill's wife, sitting in the audience nervously awaiting her husband's performance. She also had their six little sparkies with her. We flew to Florida, and at Tallahassee we found the former Lois Geiger teaching the third and fourth grades at the Piccidili Primary School. Her husband, Marlyn Bryd, was running the Grand Hotel at Piccidili City. We left Florida and went on to Washington, D.C. and found Ron Jordan's address in the directory. We went to visit him and found a beautiful home which he and his wife, the former Mary Smith, own. He said he was Speaker of the House of Representatives and was very well satisfied with the job. We went on to Detroit and toured the Ford Plant. We found Rex Perry, an engineer designing the new 1976 Ford. We went on to Minneapolis and found our old friend, Dave Smith, our former basketball star, coaching the Minneapolis Lakers. Our next stop was at Indianapolis. Since it was Memorial Day we went to the 500-mile race. In the program we noticeda person's name which seemed familiar. It was that of Larry Hand from Huntertown, Indiana. This could be no one but our Larry who always drove the souped-up Fords when we were all in school. He was doing a good job of herding his jetmobile around the race track. One of the members of our party got sick at the race so we took him down to the Medical Center, and guess whom we found as superintendent of nurses. Joyce Perry, or now Joyce Brumbaugh! She said she thoroughly enjoyed her position. We asked her how Rodger and the four kids were. She said they were all fine and Rodger had a wonderful job, teaching at the Technical College. This concluded our trip, and we were glad we had seen our upper classmen of twenty years ago. We wonder what they will be doing in the twenty years to come. We started the season with 11 consecutive wins and were one of the last ten high school teams in the state of Indiana to taste defeat. We played some of the toughest teams on our schedule the last half of the season and with a little smile from Lady Luck would have added a couple more wins to our wonderful record. All in all we had a marvelous fifteen won, six lost record that everyone is proud of, Eddie R oth EXCHANGE BANK Warren, Indiana Established 1883 Member F, D, I, C, 5 . xg!
