Patrol Boys I In the fall of '48, the menace of a highway past the school building which children often crossed was recognized. Accordingly, Mr. Reas- oner, the principal, suggested patrol boys. They were organized with voluntary workers and they served a good purpose throughout the year. Each succeeding year volunteers have assumed the res- ponsibility and taken their places at the highway during a part of the noon hour that pupils may cross in safety. The boys who have taken upon themselves this duty merit our gratitude. The group above are the boys serving during the year of 1950-51. Our Cooks ,ad Verda Penrod Hazel Freds Mary Haiflich Ray Lesh. OFTBALL The Rockcreek softball team had a very successful season this year. They again came out on too the second year in a row to receive the title as Hchamps of 49-50H. Last year a large trophy was to be given to the first team to win the title three times in Succession. The school also received two smaller trophies to keep. The record for the year was eight wins and two losses. They are as follows: Rockcreek Rockcreek Rockcreek Rockcreek Rockcreek Chester Petroleum Ossian Lancaster Jackson Rockcreek Rockcreek Rockcreex Rockcreek Rockcreek Liberty Union Ossian Ossian Ossian County Champ- ionship y , -7, W, ' 4Tia M51 ' if qw 'X- UJF v' ' . . Although they were surely lacking in height, they more than made up for it, with good team play and the will to win. The Players have kept up the good name of Rockcreek for sports- manship and although they were treated very rough because of their size, they were sportsmen-like in their conduct. At the time of printing they had piled up a record of 10 wins and 5 losses. We believe them to be one of the best teams in the history of Rockcreek and that they have been a credit to the school. Hoopingarner: Senior, was a con- sistent scorer and used his one- handed shot and weight for those drive-in shots, to be one of the top scorers. Arnold: Senior, a very heady ball player and although short in height he used his one handed shot to become a top scorer. Kinsey: Senior, was a great as- set to get rebounds and used a one-handed shot to can his field goals. Walmsley: Senior, was a good de- fensive man and rebounder. His pep was a great aid in keeping up the spirits of the team. Gilbert: Junior, his ability to drive and score should be a great help next year. The record to date is: Rockcreek 46 Lafayette Central 44 Rockcreek 42 Hartford Twp. 59 Rockcreek 40 Liberty Center 41 Rockcreek 41 Lancaster 38 Rockcreek 38 Jackson 32 Rockcreek 41 Monmouth 38 Rockcreek 63 Adams Central 47 Rockcreek 63 Union 36 Girod: Senior, also saw limited action but helped out in height and defense when needed. Geiger: Senior, saw limited ac- tion, but was always ready with plenty of scrap when called upon. Milligan: Junior, was our long- shot artist and used his S0996 and drive in stealing the ball from opponents. Briner: Sophomore, has a great deal of drive and scoring punch and should help out for the next two years. Eichhorn: Junior, was moved up in mid season and his height should prove valuable next year Rockcreek 58 W. Second Team Our second team has had a very impressive record so far this year, Cat the time the annual went to pressb. They have had good team cooperation and have shown a great deal oi school spirit while playing their games. They should be given considerable credit for their work because they have helped the first team in practive. They participated in a four-way tourney the 16th of December in which they emerged runner-up after a hard fought battle. The team is well molded together, and since they arethe neucleus of the teams to come, they should post some good records. Their record for the year is as follows: Rockcreek Lafayette Rockcreek LancasterfTourneyb Rockcreek Hartford Twp. Rockcreek W. Junior High Although the Junior High Boys were lacking in experience this year, they have built up a good record along with the other teams. They have showed signs of developing into a well balanced, driving team and since they will be the teams to come, the future is very promising. At the time of printing they had a record of 8 wins and 5 losses. Much of their success should be credited to Mr. Markley, for his grand Job of coaching and starting the boys off on the right foot. 'A Cheer Leaders Two seniors were elected to the post of cheer leading this year. It was new to both of them and they did very well. J, xy: ...Al K It was their job to keep up the good record of the school in clean athletic sportsmanship. They ably fulfilled their duties and were well liked and supported by the fans.
