We have tried to in- clude those little characteristics of our classmates and teachers that night tend to fade as the years go by. We are anxious that the happenings of Rock Creek High School during our Senior year will, in days to come, be read and reread by those people who have had a part in making this year a happy one. lf, years from now, we tend to ponder over these pages, then our efforts in printing this year book will not have been in Vain. Most all the pupils in Rock Creek school are brought to school and returned home in school hacks. And the athletic teams are trans- ported in the busses, as well as other school groups for field trips and the like. This situation requires utmost care, caution and supervision. The drivers of the school hacks are to be congratulated upon their work. They have all shouldered the responsibility of getting our stu- dents to the proper place promptly and safely. Rather, it was a forgone conclus- ion that, while prospects were good for a winning team eventually, it could not develop this year. With last yearfs team wiped out by graduation, and no reserve strength to' speak of, it'was aztask of beginning at the bottom and rebuilding the team. And with a new' coach, who was not familiar with the material at hand or the style of play of the teams on the schedule, the task was made even more difficult. But through hard practice and working together, the boys representing Rock Creek have come a long ways this season. More shall be expected of them next year and they should produce more. Coach Ireland will have a full team with a year's experience. Most of the work has been with the underclassmen. They have been given every opportunity, and should produce a winner next year and the year following. So, while the past season has had its disappointments, ,so does the future hold a promise. 13,1eUvUEN,fEUu5cErN,,l1FedI2Uwsg,.1.gl Q Q P ,Q J-wav vi ' ,rl 2 ,, .Mi , QQ. UIQHCE EEC! H GD MOST VALUABLE PLAYER Following the close of the basketball season,Uorman McCoy was chosen as .Eock Creek's most valuable player. The choice was made by the members of the squad. Norman is a senior and will be missed when the team takes the floor next season, He is the fastest player on the squad, and played in every game this yearc He plays guard and led the team in scoring. He acted as captain most of the time, and, although he had had very little past experience, was a good leadero He is to be congratulated upon his arhievemento It is quite an honor to be selected as the best of the group 'oy that group Norman is deserving of that honor and, even more so in that he twas an almost unanimous choice of his team- mates. Two Sen- ior girls, Doris Smith and Thelma Priblo, and Bob Bonewitz, a Junior, were elected. They immediately began working on their new duties and were all ready for the first game. They have been loyal throughout the season and, while there was not much to cheer for at times, they kept pulling for the team at all times. We are proud of our yell leaders. STUDELT NAIAGiRS Rock Creek Athletic teens have had the services of two student .managers during the past year. Billy Uleh, a senior, and Emerson Crago, a freshman, have both had a hand in taking care of the equipment and keeping, reeords. Billy aeted as baseball student man- ager and continued his activities in basketball until midseason, when Emerson took over. Emerson has been the basketball man- ager during the last half of the season. He had a few things to learn upon as- suming his duties, but was quick to find the right way of doing things. He has proved very beneficial and should be a real aid to Nr. Ireland next year. He played in every Rock Creek game, and acted as captain part of the term. He is willing and has every chance of be- coming a polished player during the next two years KEITH SPARLS Keith has been our center all season despite the fact that he is only a sophomore and had had very little previous experience. Start- ing as a reserve player he was moved to a regular position in December and has remained there ever since. He had the mesfortune of injuring his hand in the final week of the season and was unable to be on the tourney squad. JACK SCHEBRER Jack has the size and the aggressiveness which should make him one of Rock Creeks best next year. He had had very little experience but has improved as much as any player on the squad. He played under the basket and during the last half of the season was a real threat. He scored 91 points. Reg is a Junior. BRYCE FEEDS Bryce did not see as much action as some of the other boys but was a strong defensive player. He has a good shot and should score heavily next year. He was out of several games due to a leg injury and illness, but reached his best right at tournament time. GEORGE CRAOO George played some last year and was counted upon to see service this year. He played in 21 games but, being a Senior, was forced to divide the playing with the underclassmen. George always played hard when he was in the game. He did most of his scoring on rebound shots. HERHAH VITZ Herman was looking forward to a big success in athletics this year and made a swell start. Herman always worked hard and had a fine attitude. Misfortune overtook him however, and he was stricken ill with pneumonia. Ho was obliged to give up basketball. AREOLD MASON Arnold is another second team mainstay. Being the sparkplug of tho reserve squad, he had a first team suit during the latter part of the season and and was included in the squad that went to the sectional tourney. Eippus was the first opponent and the first victim, being on the short end of the l5 to 8 score. The victory feeling did not last long, however, and Andrews set the Aces down with one hit, to win 7 to O. Then Clear Creek won by a score of 9 to l. Rock Creek played at Lancaster next, and lost again. However, the game was forfeited by Lancaster because of an ineligible player and went in the record as a 9 to O victory. In the last home game, Wayne Dungan pitched and hit his team to an exciting ll to 10 victory over Banque. Errors were responsible for the loss of the last game. Jungan fanned ten Jefferson batters but bobbles at just the wrong time blew the game away. . Rock Creek should be well represented on the diamond next year, with most of the team returning. , g++'- il-.11 QUYY . This contest is a national affair, beginning with the county eventu The topic of the Oration must be on some phase of the Consti- tution. Norma chose the topic UFranklin and the Constitution.H She guve her talk before the assembly and students and teachers were very enthusiastic over her efforts. Although Norma failed to win the contest, she did win a beautiful medal. The study and effort in preparing for the contest was, to a great extent, Normu's own individual effort, and we are proud of her as a representative of our school. x 1 j tt' i 'ttiilfltiidianierriiiemv EECDQQIVWEL- W T' W 1314 ,.
