Elwood introduces himself to the doctor ' s wife. Veta Simmons after a traumatic stay in a sanitarium. What is a pooka? According to Alex Eichenberg, a pooka is from old Celtic mythology; a fairy spirit in animal form. In this year ' s fall play, Harvey , Alex plays Elwood P. Dowd, a very proper, polite gen- tleman whose best friend was a six foot tall invisible rabbit (a pooka) named Harvey. Elwood and Harvey go everywhere together, which often causes a scene when Elwood insists upon introducing Harvey to his friends, for only Elwood could actu- ally see Harvey. His sister. Miss Veta Simmons, played by Kristina Schmitz, and his niece. Miss Myrtle Mae Simmons, played by Leslie Stamper, consider Elwood an em- barrassment to the family name. The play tells the story of a series of funny misunderstandings through which Elwood invariably comes out on top. The play was a success and a lot of fun for everyone involved. Row 1. LR Liz Abshier. MniBZMm myiyiez This past December the choral groups presented a form of entertainment new to RB- a Madrigal dinner. They sang renaissance music to the audience while serving a wonder- ful dinner of crown pork roast. Included in the evening ' s festivities were the royal instrumental musicians, the royal dancers, a juggler, a puppet show, the Queen ' s favorite lady-in-waiting (played by Pamela Burks), and of course, the court jester (played by Martin Pope). Mr. Bohon and Ms. Black played the King and Queen, and the choir mem- bers were the townspeople. Senior Kristina Schmitz summed up the dinner by say- ing, The evening proved to be enjoyable for us as well as the audience. It certainly was more unique than anything RB choirs have done before. All photos by Dan Purcell Tell me jester, do my tights match my outfit? ' It looks good, but what Is it? The royal main dish - crown pork roast. Sir Bohon and Lady Black demand a potion for their indigestion. Julie Wilson emits a loud scream as stage fright suddenly sets in.
