The 1985 Marching Band had a competitive season. They attended two contests, both in the St. Louis area. At the Washington conte the band as a whole p aced fifth in their class. The percussion placed first and the colorguard placed second. At the Francis Howell Contest, percussion placed third and colorguard placed first. Little did they know this would be their last contest. Due to the Car- dinals success, the Greater St. Louis Con- test in Busch Stadium was postponed to a date when the band could not attend. Brooks. i w V Basketball season at Rock Bridge was one very long high- liqht reel. Both the boys and girls teams had twenty victory records, a first at RB. The most heard phrase around RB this winter was ROAD TRIP. The fan support at away games was incredible. We have great fans! Especially at the road qames. They helped win some games for us. The numbers could have been greater but the fans that were there were loud! said Bruins Coach Jim Scanlon. The more than forty wins seemed to blur together but some stood out. No one can forget the boys ' emotion-packed victory over Hickman in the RB tournament, or the girls comefrom-behind win at Macon. The guys finished the season with 22-4 record and the num- ber 8 ranking in the state. Led by seniors Matt Bendict. B.T. Washington, and Brian Taylor the Bruins won the Fulton tour- nament, placed third in the capitol city tournament, and tied for first in conference. Juniors Kyle Bramon and Jim Horton were the final ingredients to make a great team. Their chemistry was almost unstoppable. Benedict on the outs.de. Bramon and Horton on the inside. The Bruins finished the season on a nine game winning streak. The home stretch began m the cham- Lnship game of the Fulton tournament against Fulton. The Bruins Jim Horton slammed home a monster dunk to give the Bruins a 4-2 lead and they never looked back. The seas- ended when that other team from Columbia ' topped the Brums in the district final. The year will never be forgotten. It was a year of accomplishments, friendships, and winning ThanKS for the memories. RMJ
