2 F! 1 .2-' Lights Go Out At Commencement e Ceremonies . i E.. .,. At seven o'clock Wednesday June 7, 1978, a capacity crowd in Rock Bridge High School Gymnasium saw 297 graduates receive their diplomas. The seniors marched in to the processional and sat down forming a green field of caps and gowns. Dr. Walter Daniels, Vice Chancellor of the University of Missouri, gave a poignant commencement address. During the presentation of diplomas something very unexpected happened. A storm caused a power outage, thus enveloping the gymnasium in darkness. Lights or no lights they proceeded with the ceremony presenting the remaining 45 graduates who were awaiting their diplomas. It brought a fitting close to a very emotional and spirited senior week as the class of '78 was leaving its green and gold alma mater. ii 152
