Basketball Fzrst Twelve KNEELING Left to Right Do Taft M Starks STANDING J hn R ps Da Ch px F ed Olive Gene Sha p Do Hatfield Jack Hex sing Bob Cant ll B11lD s Do Kye Jxm Sldener ABSENT Tom Ca pe ter Our Rochester Rockets proved to be a team of co ordmatxon and strength throughout the 49 and 50 season on the hardwood floors Although we met setbacks we were able to cop 3rd m the C M S and 4th m the county Durmg our regular season of play the team was hampered by the xllness of Carpenter and the absence of Hezssmger our power ful center, but when both boys were ln there the opposxtzon felt It Our 1n1t1al garne of the season turned out to be one of those thrlllers that you read about The opponent was Mt Auburn and the cross country boys had the speed and en durance that turned out to be the decrdmg factor We were on the tall end of 31 to 29 However thxs d1d not stop the Rocket from takmg four ln a row only to be stopped by a score of 34 to Z9 handed down by our old foe Rlverton From then on the season had the good poznts and the bad pomts that are characterzstlc of any sport In the C M S Tourney we outclassed our first opponent Raymond by a score 47 to Z9 and then lost the second thrlller of the season to Ball Twp by two pomts 6 to 34 But the tearn bounced back and took thlrd place by defeat1ng Auburn 37 to 35 Af the county tourney we racked up two startlmg v1ctor1es 1n a row and then turned around and lost even harder to Riverton and Dwernon Thls gave us fourth place How ever, we placed second m the D1StF1Ct Tourney losmg to Dzvernon Next year wxll fmd the Rockets less 5 lettermen but there IS plenty of potential power left m the squad and they w1l1 prove tough to any opposltlon 42 . : ' : n , r. : o a , n a 'n, r ' . 1' .
