SENIOR CLASS HISTORY On a bright sunny September morning in 1944 fifteen boys and girls gathered together for the first time as a class in the gym of R C H S At this time we were given instruc tions as to how we would find our way around the school and where our classes would be We were also told we would meet every morning m the Home Economics Room where Miss Powell would be our advisor We then elected the following officers to carry us through our f1r st year Patricia Turley president Issac Hedden vice president Wayne Taft secretary treasurer After initiation we settled down to our regular activities During the year we lost two members Rose Miller and Issac Hedden The fall of 1945 soon came and we met once more only now we were sophomores and very proud of the fact We were again assigned the Home Economics Room and Mrs Fairchild was our advisor We elected the following officers for the year Patricia Turley president Gloria King vice president Byron Braner, secretary and Robert Heissinger treasurer This year we attempted to make some money and we sponsored a dance after a basketball game Again tlus year we lost a member of the class Barbara Kennett but we also gained Don Davis from Pleasant Plains High School Upper classmen at last In 1947 nine happy members remained in our class Looking around we found that Edith McGlennon Ethel Adams Betty Stephenson, and Larraine DeCro1x had quit school This was our big year we were to have a carnival and give the senxors their annual prom This year we met in the Agriculture Room and our two advisors were Mrs Burdock and Miss Emery who very successfully carried us through the year The officers we elected for this big year were Patricia Turley president Robert I-lexssinger vice president theme of Hallowe en This year we elected Mary Frances Reynolds and Richard Turley as queen and king The outcome was very pleasing especially the financial part Then the big event arrived the .Tumor Senior prom We were all proud of the fact that the class of 48 was the first to entertain the seniors at a dinner dance at the Leland Hotel in the Banquet Room Our junior year ended with our class saying they would never forget tlus year For the last time in 1947 our class walked up the steps of old R C H S Our class has now grown to the large number of ten We chose Coach Kellar as our class advisor and we were at home every mornxng in the Science Room We elected this years officers Wayne Taft president Robert I-leissinger vice president Patricia Turley secretary Byron Braner treasurer We were proud that our class was represented so well in sports this year We have three members on the first team Robert Smoothie Heissmger, Byron Braner and Wayne Taft a cheerleader and a manager This year we decided to have a Homecoming to make money The evening of January 23rd all of the R C H S alumni gathered together in the gym for one of our big games of the year and a dance with music by Bobby Kaye The idea was very successful and we hope it will be made an annual affair At last we began to plan for the big day Patricia Turley was chosen to receive the D A R award Then we selected our class colors blue and gold flower yellow tea rose and our motto, wluch ns Our glory consists not in never falling but in rising every time we fall Before graduation we were entertained at a dinner dance by the juniors in the Banquet Room of the Leland Hotel The music was furnished by Charlie Rodgers and everyone had a very mce time Now the evening in which we have looked forward to has arrived and as we march out of the gym we all think back on the last four years as the best in our life Gloria King, secretary and treasurer. The carnival was first on the calendar. We picked the ' As ' UI ' '
