The forty-six members of the Student Council of Rl-l.S. meet twice a month to discuss and attempt to solve the problems which arise during the school year. Each home room has one delegate, and the class officers and foreign exchange stu- dents are also participating members. The council is divided into several different committees Bulletin Board, Assembly, Activity, Safety, and Social. The council room is the center of activity during ticket sales for school athletic contests and club activities, and the council officers, in the fulfillment of their duties, carry on a great deal of school business. From the discus- sion in home room of each meetings min- utes, the representatives take back to the council the opinions of the whole student body. ' . 1 Ted Ryneurson, vice president of the senior class, measures ludy Larson, secretary-treasurer, for her graduation cap, while president Woody Young looks on. The electioneering, campaigning, and scheming that goes on in the halls of HHS. during the school elections would be worthy of a national campaign. Posters and tags are the two most popular means of advertising Their slogans - cute, slangy, and eye-catching, are to be found in every color in every part of the build- ing. As the years pass, campaign man- agers seem to think up more and more unusual promotion ideas, The election as- sembly, in which the candidates and their managers express their views and aims for the following year, is usually high- lighted by at least one original poem and any number of Jokes. After the final voting, the newly-elected officers can breathe a sigh of relief until the next fall, when they will undertake the serious task of leading the members of their class.
