A 1 - PMR coach, Mr. Graham's efforts and enthusiasm led our football ' ad ly team to the Class A Championship in 1961. ' Q, xj A My iff, A4 WWW 2 will Administration DR. FRED L. ESVELT Superintendent Dear Students: Self and school are two subjects all of us are concerned with here at Rochester High School. The two terms without descriptive words are in themselves of little worth. The placement of the words knowledge of, or pride in, before these terms bring life and meaning to them. My thought to you is to have knowledge of self and your schoolg this may lead to under- standing and pride. aawwy Fred Rockey Principal . 15 lip! W, Owjffygd Social progress is a phenomenon of our time. Our schools are a product of society and, inversely, our society is a product of our schools. In order to function properly in this dual role of responsibility we must strive to make our high school more comprehensive in nature, to provide an education for all students within our community, and to maintain a balance between local community and national attitudes toward the function of education. This past year has provided an early oppor- tunity for out educational service to more closely parallel that of social progress. Our faculty and students have developed an aura of looking ahead - a most important product. School Board Mr. J. Tedder, Mr. W. Reynoldson, Mr. B. Cooper, Chairman Mr. D. Tapper, Mr. Prang. L L 5 Wir- Classes y SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Four years ago sixty-eight starry eyed freshmen entered the halls of RHS. Six of these were chosen to lead the class through the first bewildering year. These leaders: BillOlsen, President, Randy O'Connor, Vice-President, Verna Arnold, Secretary, Fred Fos- nacht, Treasurer, Tanya Porter and Allen Morrow, Representatives, inspired their classmates to sponsor a Freshmen Sock dance, to operate booths in the PTA and Boy's Club carnival, and a representative in the all school play. The Advisors were: Mr. Brown and Miss Quick. In their Sophomore year their number diminished to fifty-six members. These students, who were more accustomed to high school life, were led by Allen Morrow, President, Fred Fosnacht, Vice-President, Carol Dewing, Secretary, Randy O'Connor, Treasurer, Anna McMahon and Bill Olsen, Representatives. The Advisors were: Mr. Atz and Mr. Digby. As Sophomores we sponsored a booth in the PTA Carnival. A Sopho- more Sock Dance was planned and carried out. The biggest event of the year was buying their classrings. We also had a representative in the all school play. Our number decreases to 54, leaving the ambit- ious members who diligently supported their class thus bringing high honors home to Rochester High School. The officers were: Dale Lund, President, Darlene Brown, Vice-President, Viki Schrader, Secretary, Ruby Stout, Treasurer, Randy O'Connor and jackie Gilliam, Representatives. The Advisors were: Mr. Novick and Miss Carter. fNow as upper classmen they felt a new air of importancej. The Class's main activities were the junior-Senior Ball and Banquet, entitled Pink Champagne . In order to finance this function, the class went on bottle drives, sold cans of candy, sold articles at the auction, operated the concession stand at all games, had a car wash, and had a sock dance. As the last year began to unfold approximately 50 members carried forth the prestige due to their position as top men on the totem pole. The class sponsored a sock dance at the beginning of the year, were well represented in all sports and organizations. They were mainly concerned with raising funds for the Senior Trip. They also co-sponsored the junior- Senior Ball and were honored at the junior-Senior Banquet. The officers for their final year were: Dale Lund, President, Don Phillip, Vice-President, Carol Dewing, Secretary, and Ruby Stout, Treasurer, Fred Wickholm and Viki Schrader, Representatives. Besides these activities, the class of 62 found themselves involved in the wait for graduation. T' Sifii if . I Sululutoriun Darlene Dafoe was chosen as Salutatorian of the Class of '62. Darlene, also active and popular, had a grade point average of 3,74. Vuledictoriun Ruby Stout was chosen as Vale- dictorian of the Class of '62. Popular and active in school participations, Ruby had a grade point average of 3.94. D tg DAN ANDERSON FFA 1,2,45 Boys' Club l,2,3,4. Top: Davis. Gary Zosel Coach Robert Graham Head Coach Short on size and experience, but long on desire, best describes this years East Central League Champion- ship team. This year's success might be measured in part by the willingness of team members to make sacrifices off the field as well as on, by their excel- lent co-operation and by the fine back- ing given by the student body and townspeople. Truly the Hustle, Desire, and Record of this years team will leave an example at which future Rochester teams may shoot. l Robert Graham Head Coach Dewaine Wallin Coach First Row: Clark, Scalf, Hughey, D.
