RAFTERS RESOUND WITH The music department at Rochester has had a very busy schedule including concerts, exchange programs with other schools, sports activities, and contests. The music department sponsored two concerts this year, the Christmas Concert and the Spring Concert. The band, chorus, and nonette all participated in these two events. Margaret James was elected president of the band and along with her are Mike Knepper, vice-president, Linda Dobson, secetaryg Pat Morris, treasurer, and Dale Olson, sergeant-at-arms. The band's new uniforms were first used at the Spring Concert. A Music Boosters Club was organized to raise money for the band uniforms and to promote an interest in band activities. The nonette has also been very active. They have sung at many and varied places. The nonette received an excellent rating in their contest in Chehalis. Rochester sent two delegates to the All-State Chorus and Band. Thos participating from Rochester were Roger Palmer for the Chorus and Barbara Dean fo the Band. The play, a comedy- romanee, took place in a drug store run by Ma Rand, played by Twylla Sjewart. The drug store was a hangout for East End High School smartset. All was going well with the group until a new girl, named Caroline, played lay Jeanette Harrison, moved into town. Caroline is very different from the other girls, Dottie Capaan, Yvonne Klundt, Virginia Marvin, Roma Lee, and Carole Davenport, The boys, Wes Harrison, Kent Newman, Andy l-laoara, Dean Terlder, and Bill Sandell, het Joe, portrayed hy Mike Boring, that he Canlt date Caroline. Further complications were presented when Caroline's little sister, Susie, Nancy Erstrom, appeared on the scene. Miss Jameson, a spinster school teacher, was played by JoAnne Keesee.
