Voetberg, Tedder, Anderson, Marvin, Wharton. The Future Homemakers of America began the program for the year with a melon feed. The other events early in the year were initiating new members, installing new officers, conferring of degrees and cooking and serving luncheon for the Southwest Washington Girls' League Conference. The girls made toys for the Orthopedic Hospital in Seattle. ln January a bake sale was held and in March a dance was given. On April lOth and llth, three girls, Linda Schulz, Anne Whittaker, and Lorenne Hamilton, and their advisor, Mrs. Brown, attended the State F.H.A. Convention in Pullman, Washington. Reports were given upon return and a special speaker was featured. In May new officers were elected and degrees were conferred, ending the second year of organized F.H.A. in Rochester High School. The officers of the organization included: Jeanette Harrison, president, Sharon Musgrove, vice-president, Anne Whittaker, secretary, Nancy Erstrom, treasurer, Dollene Wicks, parliamentarian, and Marcella Moline, historian. BIIDDING HOMEMAKER! AND AGRICIILTURISTS The thirty members of the local Future Farmer Chapter elected Larry Mirosh as president for the year. Other elected officers were Wayne McMahon, Bill Hilcman, Larry Hamilton, Kent Newman, and Dan Parkhurst. Excellent exhibitions of livestock and poultry at the Southwest Fair, the Elma Fair, the Puyallup Fair, and the Junior Poultry Show were provided by the following members, Dick Slaymaker, Wayne McMahon, Dan Parkhurst, Marvin Johnson and Neil Murray. Livestock judging teams also represented the local chapter very well at the fairs named, as well as at Carnation Farms and at the Auburn Livestock Show. Norman Wickstrom was selected delegate to the State F.F.A. Convention at Pullman. Larry Mirosh won the Washington State Bankers Award as the out- standing senior member of the local chapter. Bill Hileman and Terry Tapper represented the chapter at the District Cooperative Contest. Chapter activities were financed by a successful Christmas card sale. This year's membership was about 35. 5 ., ln addition to selling tickets at ball games the members had several other 2 activities. They sponsored a booth at the Boys' Club Carnival which was Shave E ., the Balloon , went skiing, and went on the traditional beach party. MR LANPHERE Officers for the year were Burdette Holmes, president, Carol King, vice- president, and Linda Schulz, secretary. Advisor TORCH CLUB AND SPEAKERS FILL YEAR WITH ACTIVITIES The R,H.S. forensics year was officially opened when the members of the team attended a Forensics Clinic at the College of Puget Sound. The second event of the year was a series of practice debates with Olympia High and North Thurston. On February 8, the squad made their first big step by going to Van- couver High for their first debate tournament. The second tournament attended v ' was held at Pacific Lutheran College on February 2l-22. X Ely Karl Stout and Andy Hagara were on one debate team, while Charlotte Voetberg and JoAnne Kecsee made up the other team. Sharon Musgrove par- ticipated in interpretative speaking. Miss Christopher advised the speakers.
