THEIR NOTEBOOKS AT ROCHESTER The seventh and eighth grades pass hy uneventlully, and now we see our actors entering the ninth grade. This year the students are divided into the Academic, General, and Commercial course. ln adclilion to their regular sulojects, foreign languages, sciences, and higher math are added to the curriculum. The curtain drops on tact two as the ninth grade graduates lrom common school into the long a-waited Senior High School. As the curtain goes up on the final act. our director and leading perlormers have changed. Now lvlr. Farley directs the production. Everything is strange. The inexperienced sophomores wall: up the wrong stairs and are chastisecl hy the Seniors. The dilzlerent cluhs talce in their new memhers. At last the unclerclassmen get into the swing ol things, they lcnow which stairs to use and they have acquired the lcnowledge of getting out ol the road. Finally comes the long awaited night ol the Sophomore Party. What a gala night it is with dancing, games, and hest of all something to eat. As the second scene evolves, we see the lowly Sophomores change into Juniors. Now they sit in the halcony. ' ln a lew weelcs distinguished class rings are placed upon heretolore unadorned hands. Soon everyone is trying to sell candy to have a Prom, and the lirst hig project is under way. Alter mid-year exams are over, the conversation really hegins to grow allout the Prom. Committees are chosen and they grow weary trying to decide on which floor and whose orchestra to have lor the luig event. Ar last everything is ready. The loig night arrives. Everyone is there. The music starts, and the dance lxegins. Thus the prom is on and over and another scene is completed. Once more the doors ol the school are open, only this lime, as Seniors, the actors are not happy. Then the first assemhly ol the year and, Ohl happy thought. lor now as Seniors. the older memhers ol the cast can listen to the phrase that used to bother them so, uSophomores remain seated until the Seniors are outln The days speed hy, and the last year of school is nearly completed. Qnce more there is the prom, 'hut this time there is the knowledge that you wonit go to another. Slowly the curtain descends on the last act. For a minute the audience is hushed, then there is a roar of applause as the spectators realize that the curtain has not dropped on the end of the drama hut. instead ol ending, the real drama ol lile has just begun lor the high school graduates.
