Davis asks for order and the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Education swings into action. Rochester,s Board oi Education is composed of seven memhers headed lioy President George H. Davis, with C. C. iVIcCreary as Vice President and a competent secretary in the person of George Marshall. It is most interesting to Iisten to the different committees give their reports. The committee heads have carefuiiy compiied their oioservations and are ready with their reports. Think what a headache it would he on the Finance Committee trying to figure where the money goes. Then the Buiiding Committee reports on the improvements made or to the made in the future. At other meetings, teachers are given Ieaves of ahsence, eiected or dismissed. What wouid we do without the Athletic Committee which huys the foothaii and the loasicethaii hoys their equipment? In addition to these committees, there is the Supplies Committee. And not to he forgotten is the Speciai Committee which takes care of urgent Iousiness matters. The schooi directors are the agents of the State for conducting the affairs of our puhiic schools. In addition to this, they are the custodians of our schooi districts. The powers and duties of the Board of Education are deiegated to them Ioy the Iawvs of the state. Assisting the oiliicers organization are the other memioers of the Board oi Education, namely: Donaid Cook, Nviiiiam T. Dentzer, Eimer Qtto, and Iast, hut Ioy no means the Ieast, is the memher Iongest on the Board and besides, the onIy woman, IVIrs. Ciara L. Hetzier. This is hut a hrief sketch of our Board oi Education. Their work is hard and they receive no compensation for aII their efforts. VX7ith this We Ieave this Ioyai group which has aided the students of Rochester High School. THE MIRAGE
