reefingd: I am the Totem Pole. I know, hear, and see all. I have watch- ed men at work. I have seen trees falling, a building erected, and a college begun. In the course of this year I have seen faculty and students arriving and making themselves at ho-me. I have seen students boat-riding, snow-balling, ice-skating, apple-bobbing, picnicing at the bar-b-que pit, and walking to chapel. I have seen students and faculty playing, working, and worshipping together. I have seen the faculty give special attention to students in need of help. I have seen them assume extra duties and responsibilities beyond and above the call of duty. I have heard the students as they went to their classes, while they were in the basketball court, when they were in the do-r1ni- tories, or batting the ball on the ping-pong table. I have heard their plans laid as they began to work for a Christmas banquet, 0peration 10 , The North Star, Radio Station VVNCC, a Valen- tine party, and many other functions. I have heard the faculty speak of studies, examinations, and grades. I have heard them as they made chapel talks, offered suggestions, and counseled with students. I know the pioneer spirit which has pervaded the atmospllere of North Central Christian College. I know of the long hours and hard work performed by the Board of Directors, Administra- tion, and Faculty. I know the works, the interests, and the longings of the students. l know the visions, hopes, dreams, and aspirations of the people who have walked on my camp site. All this I wish to share with you. My staff is happy to present my first observations on the pages which fo-llow.
