Lcdr C. A. Kuhl reported aboard the ROCH- ESTER in September of i952 as Navigator. Surrounded by compasses, fathometers, flags, sextants and loran equipment, he has navi- gated the ROCH ESTER across the Pacific twice, all along the Korean coast during the winter operations with Seventh Fleet, and South to Manila and Saigon. l-lailing from New Haven, Conn., Lcdr Kuhl was formerly a member of the staff of COMDESFLOT 3. The continuous operation of the ship's machinery and the absence of material damage and breakdown indicates the efficient manner in which Lcrd Rustin has directed the various phases of his department. Lcdr Rustin comes from Long Beach, California, and prior to reporting aboard the ROCHESTER was the District Material Officer of the Eighth Naval District, located in New Orleans, Louisiana. M - .
