After two weeks of tryouts, the squad was cut to l4 players by Coach ENS. McLen- nan. Before leaving the States in November, the team compiled a record of five wins and one loss, that loss being to the USS HAMUL whom they had previously beaten. Their vic- tims included the USS GREGORY, USS l-lAMUl., Long Beach Naval Base Marines, Bethany Methodist Church and USS TOLEDO. Upon leaving for the Far East, all the equip ment was turned in and thoughts of basket- ball put aside. I-lowever, an unexpected trip to Saigon and Manila provided a chance to play some more ball. The warm weather and a two-and-a-half-month layoff proved to be too much, and only one game was won from the French Army in Saigon while losses were inflicted bythe Circle Sportif Club of Saigon, P ' t Naval the Army Engineers and Sangley oin Base in Manila.
