CLASS HISTGRY One September day, eleven years ago, a group of new students entered the doors of the first grade of Rochelle School for their first day of school. Why? They didn't know, except that they had been told, since'they would remember, that when they grew to be a big boy or girl they could go to school. So here they were . . . Of the twenty seven which' now make up the Senior Class only seven remain' Juanita C n ' h B ' ' ' u ning am, etty Parrish, Jane Woodford, Geneva Nowlin, John Burk, Billy Moseley and Tootsie Mitchell--the others were added to the class through the ears. Y Our most important achievement was the presentation of the play Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Helen Haywood and Bob Williams joined us in the second grade, and two years later Jesus Aquero, Junior Morrison, and Nelda Vick came into the class. During these years, we were an average class and did what the average children do in the way of entertainment. We did have the well-earned reputation of being the meanest class in school. We started the seventh grade in the brand new high school building M T . . r. russell, whom we will never forget, was our eighth grade teacher. That year, three students from the Mercury school entered the class. They were Jimmie Gossett, Joyce Massey and Curtis Jones We received our di lomas at the e d f h , . p n 0 t e school year and were lowered to the low rank of Freshmen and were treated likewise Ed L' lf' ' ' ' ' na itt e ield, Charles Engdahl, Jimmy Stewart, and Billy Hall Joined us during that year. These last four years have flown quickly by with sports, clubs, class parties, studies, and other activities keeping us busy. Patt Squiers, Juanita Brown, and Junior McCartney t d h l d ' en ere t e c ass uring the Sophomore year, Faye Weatherman, during the Junior year, and Cooter Roper, Anne Johnson, and Wilma Barclay during our Senior year. The most. outstanding activities of our Senior year were the publication of the 1947-48 Hornet , and the Senior Play Red Headed Royalty From Arkansas. Now, after all these years, with the constant drive of our parents and teachers, we come to this conclusion: We know very little but we are ready to start out to gain a lot of knowledge the hard way-through experience. Some of us will be successful and some will fail. Which ever we do, we have had these few years together and they will always be remembered. .,,.--.., 5' I 'TX
