The Cottonboll Chapter of Future Homemakers divide their activities into three classes: better home life, better community life, and a better homemaking department through physical improvement. To serve their community, F. H. A. girls helped in the Nueces County Live Stock show, their floaton the theme of blood donations to the Red Cross winning a first place. They also worked with the Farm Bureau at their annual Nueces County Family Night, and they contributed to the Infantile Paralysis drive, many members also taking the place of mothers in the Mothers ' March on Polio. The Chapter has raised funds through their annual Nut Bowl Game, Hobo Days, and style show. This year's style show broughtwinter right into Robstown with its theme of Winter Wonderland. The F. H. A. has had many firsts this year. The districtmeeting was held here on February 28, for the first time. The district homemaking teachers met here in October for the first time, several of our girls serving on a panel-discussion of Putting F. H. A. Across. Marlene Kriewald and Helen Sijansky received State degrees, which were presented to them at state meeting in San Antonio, the first time thatRobstown girls had received state degrees. Also for the first time we had an area officer, Betty Stephens, who was elected District X Corresponding Secretary. Ann Lotspeich was elected District President--this, too, a first. Two other district officers, Caroline Hanke, Recording Secretary, and SoRelle Land, Historian, came from Robstown. Much of the success of our year can be attributed to our sponsors, Mrs. Huffstutler and Mrs. Duling to our chapter mothers, Mrs. Hanke, Mrs. Paschal, and Mrs, Kriewaldg and to our chapter dad, Mr. Kriewald. Nut BowlGame brought out the fun in all of us, and resulted in money for new equipment for the Home- making lab. CHOIR The Robstown High SchoolChoir, led by Mr. Littleton Scott, has been very active this year. It has fifty-five voices, the largest number in the history of our school. This year the choir won a third division in the contest at Kingsville. They placed first in sight reading. Buddy Wells, soloist, won a first division at this same contest. Attending the All State Choir in Galveston were Jackie Sue Burroughs, Billy .lack Durham, and Phyllis Actor. Robstown High School students enjoyed hearing the choir sing in student assemblies and for special programs. ln May the choir presented a variety show, Time Staggers On. The social highlight of the year for the choir was a hayride to Corpus Christi. Our high school choir elected Buddy Jones its president.
