COM DI G OFFICER Commander David L. Peck was born in Springfield, Illi- nois on 29 May 1946. He was commissioned through the NROTC program in 1969 upon graduation from the Univer- sity of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physics. His initial sea assignment was to the USS STERRET CCG 311 where he served as Electronic Warfare Officer and later as CIC Officer from 1969 to 1972. During that tour, Commander Peck was awarded the Bronze Star for action as the Tactical Action Officer during STERRET'S success- ful air and sea engagements at the Battle of Dong Hoi off the coast of North Vietnam. Subsequent sea tours included Weapons Officer on the guided missile destroyer USS LYNDE MCCORMICK CDDG 85 from 1976 to 1978 and Executive Officer of the USS JOHN YOUNG CDD 9735 from 1981 to 1983. Commander Peck served ashore as the Officer Promotion Planner for the grades 0-6 and below for the DCNO CMan- power, Personnel, and Trainingj from 1978 to 1981. In 1983 he returned to Washington to serve in the Studies, Concepts and Analysis Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Commander Peck has a Masters Degree in Operations Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. He is a proven subspecialist in Operations Analysis. His other personal awards include the Defense Meritor- ious Service Medal, two Navy Commendation Medals, the Joint Service Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Rib- bon and the Navy Unit Citation. Commander Peck is married to the former Carolyn Zachary of Lansing, Illinois. They have two children: James, age 10, and Michelle, age 3. EXECUTIVE OFFICER LCDR ERIC Lieutenant Commander Eric Martin Dahinden was born in Alameda, Calif., on 14 November 1951. Following gra- duation from California State University at Long Beach in 1973, he was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Candidate program. His initial sea tour was on board USS CHICAGO CCG-1 lj where he served as the forward Talos Officer and later as the Talos Fire Control Officer. In 1977 he reported to Seattle, Wash., for duty as aide to the Commandant of the Thirteenth Naval District. Subse- quently, LCDR Dahinden served as Operations Officers on USS ESTEEM CMSO-4385 from 1979 to 1981 and on USS 6 . DAHI DE CONYNOHAM CDDG-171 from 1981 to 1983, then as Wea- pons officer on uss DAHLGREN QDDG-435 from 198310 1985. LCDR Dahinden received a Masters Degree in Informit- tion Management from the Naval Postgraduate Schoolgrg 1987. He is current.y sewing as Executive Officer on U ROBISON CDDG-121. .
