CQ D MASTER CHIEF l l PNCM JOSEPH D. BUVVDE Master' Chief Petty Dfficer' Bowden was born in August 1941 in Chincoteague, Virginia. He is a graduate of Chin- coteague High School and joined the Naxy in November 1963. ln 1972 he was awarded a Bachelors Degree in Busi- ness Management from National University. His 26 years of Naval Service has included duty as a member of the commissioning of USS OGDEN CLPD 55, and duty at the Personnel Support Detachment, U. S. Naval Air Station North Island where he was advanced to Master Chief Petty Officer. He volunteered and was accepted to the Command Master Chief Program and was transferred to AIR-ANTISUBRON TWO NINE CVS-291 where he 8 ? deployed to the Western Pacific on USS CARL VINSDN CCVN 705. ln November 1987 he was again selected fOr 21 follow-on Command Master Chief tour and he joined U55 ROBISON. , Master Chief Bowcen's awards include, Navy Achieve- ment Medal, Six Good Conduct Medals, Armed Forc6S Expeditionary Medal, Navy Unit Citation, National Defense Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, Vietnam CampaigH Medal, fou Vietnam Service Medals and a Vietnam Gallantly CYOSS' Master Chief Bowden's family resides in Virginia. HG 15 single.
