Hampson, U Lieutenant Commander Gary Wayne Hampson was born in Canons- burg, Pennsylvania on 29 August 1951. Commissioned through the NROTC program in 1973. he reported to his first tour of duty aboard the Norfolk based USS FORRESTAL QCV-595 to serve as First. and Second Division Officer. In 1976. he was ordered to duty as Executive Officer of USS WELCH QPG- 935 based in Little Creek. Virginia. Sub- sequent. sea tours included Operations Officer of USS CONNOLE QFF-10565 from 1979 to 1980, Weapons Officer on USS STEIN QFF-10655 from 1981 to 1983, and Executive Officer of USS BRONSTEIN QFF-10375 from 1983 to 1985. Lieutenant Commander Hampson is a 1973 graduate of Pennsylvania State University. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and several unit ci- tations. Lieutenant Commander Hampson is married to the former Barbara Jean Moran of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania.
