Westpac Departure For many of us, deploying to the Western Pacific meant being away from loved ones for five long months. We accepted the challenge that awaited us in foreign waters and lands and we turned to our loved ones and fellow shipma tes for added moral support to perservere through our separation. There were mixed emotions among some ROBI sailors. 'The excitement of sailing the un- predictable Pacitic stimulated the adventurous nature in old salts and boots alike. Perhaps the chance to visit foreign countries and experience their cultures in the course of our naval mission made being away from our loved ones a little bit tolerable. Tiger Cruise When We set sail for the Far East, onboard were several honorary ROBISON sailors'j better known as Tigers, accompanying us as far as Hawaii. They were the fathers, brothers, and sons of ROBI crewmembers who came to get a first hand account of Navy life at sea. From the signal bridge to after-steering, these curious Tigers poked around and questioned sailors about living and Working aboard ROBISON. Each sailor Was more than happy to display his professionalism to this enthusiastic group of honorary ROBISON sailors . ' a'ff if ' 'UO f ' '--.. in LT Rodwell teases his son. -.1 , 'Q I ff x wma.
