Westpac Departure For many of us, deploying to the Western Pacific meant being away from loved ones for five long months. We accepted the challenge that awaited us in foreign waters and lands and we turned to our loved ones and fellow shipma tes for added moral support to perservere through our separation. There were mixed emotions among some ROBI sailors. 'The excitement of sailing the un- predictable Pacitic stimulated the adventurous nature in old salts and boots alike. Perhaps the chance to visit foreign countries and experience their cultures in the course of our naval mission made being away from our loved ones a little bit tolerable.
