U.S.S.ROBISON CDDG-125 FLEET POST OFFICE SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA 96601 During our 1972 WESTPAC deployment, ROBISON participated in one of the greatest sustained Naval gunfire efforts in the history of our country. The variety of com- bat operations that we were personally employed in was something all hands can be justifiably proud. Our operations included towing ofUSS WARRINGTON out of danger from the enemy guns after she was disabled, and, of course, support of friendly troops ashore in retaking Quang Tri City. No one can forget our over one hundred surface strike missions against enemy targets in North Vietnam supporting U.S. interdiction methods there. These LINEBACKER strikes utilizing our destroyers in a unique offensive role took us from the gunline of the Republic of Vietnam to Haiphong Harbor in North Viet- nam. Operating in this truly multi-threat environment ROBISON'S crew set forth a team effort of enthusiasm, can do spirit, professionalism and performance that was nearly flawless. This demonstrated operational performance, coupled with our high state of material readiness, was simply outstanding as attested to by the many kudos and BZ's received this cruise by the LUCKY TWELVE. Your support given me was absolutely tremendous - a source of great personal pride - and in every way all that any Commanding Officer could ask. What can I say but Thank you for a great team effort and my sincere hope that our paths will continue to cross in the many years to come. In summary take pride in your contributions this cruise and my congratulations and appreciation for your efforts. Commander Robert L. Lage, USN I
