Robison s Adopted Children On the eve of our WESTPAC deployment, RGBISON tried to make the holidays just a bit more cheerful for the children from the San Diego Mission. It was hard to tell whether the guests or the hosts had more fun as magician Will Starr entertained and Santa Claus QBM 1 YOUNG! handed out the presents. Every year since coming to San Diego, ROBISON has sponsored a little league baseball team. A big moment for last year's team was a guided tour of the ship and a chance to meet members of the crew. The boys were entranced by the TARTAR missile launcher fbelowl. As they wandered about the ship, some probably hoped for the day when they might help to sail her. Y ff Y 1. ,, 1,3 1511 'f A. Because of the nature of ROBlSON's commitments, great attention was centered on the gun fire control system. When the call came for NGFS for friendly forces ashore, the FT gang--FTM's hand in hand with FTG's--showed their mettle-- shooting, straight, hitting hard--con- tinuing a long tradition of excel- lence under pressure. One of the hardest working divisions on board, First Division is responsible for the Captain's G oreW's personnel boat, all replenishment gear, and most of the topside deck area. Working long hours, often late into the night, First Division keeps ROBISON looking sharp. Underway, First Division bore the brunt of carrier support opera tions, often going without sleep manning their rescue stations. Though small in number the men of G Division none -the-less maintained all equipment in a ready status. Re- sponsible for small arms, the 5 f54 caliber gun mounts, and the TARTAR missile launcher, as well as all am- munition, this was no small task. ROBISON'S gunner's mates can often be seen working late into the night to be sure that their weapons are ready for use on the shortest notice possible. ..- 4 - 1 f - .-:rf 1 ff I a f A iafa , i it Af? , p V- , N s 'grill .lf-I f , C' ix ii I -A1 sf xi.- 'ff l 1 4' Q V G D1 vision ffftl .. ,ai 1 TS., '12, is! iss!
