a xecufiue LCW' Lieutenant Commander Moredock was born June 13, 1929, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Mr. and Mrs, Kenneth C. Moredock After graduating from Cumberland Townl ship High School ln Charmichaels, Pennsyl- vania, he enlisted in the Navy and served from 1947 to 1950, then entered the University of Florida. Following graduation from the University of Florida in 1954, 'with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management e accepted a position with the Proctor and Gamble Distributing Company, Jacksonville, Florida, and his commission as ensign in the United States Naval Reserve In 1956 LCDR Moredock received Ora ers to active duty and after the CIC Officer Course at Glenv' ' ' . ISW, Illinois, and Advanced Air Control School in Glynco, Georgia, joined the USS HARLAN R, DICKSON CDD-7085 as CIC OffiCG1', fleeting up to Operations Officer and Navigator, He au m td I g ene into fhe Regular Navy in 1958. In 1959 he was ordered to the Staff, Commander Escort Squadron TEN as Chief Staff Officer and Operations Officer Where he made the first UNITAS Cruise that circumnavigated South America. This was also the first United States Task Force to transit the Thousalid Mile Inland Passage of Chile. In 1961 Lieutenant Commander Moredock reported to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations where he served as Special. AS- sistant to the Chief of Naval Operations. During this period in Washington, D.C.5 he entered Graduate School at George Washing- ton University and in 1964 received his Master Degree in Personnel Management. 2 ommanc ing O kggp ,,,,-f- '-'wk Commander Jefferson was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May l, l925. Following graduation from high school he attended Marion Military Institute at Marion, Alabama, and then went to the Naval Academy, graduating in the class of l948A. Following graduation Commander Jefferson was ordered to the U,S,S, OZBOURN QDD-8465 as assistant gunnery officer. For the next six years he remained at sea serving in the U.S.S. BUCK QDD-7615, U,S,S. IRWIN EDD-7495, and the U.S.S. GENERAL ANDER- ON QTAP-lllj. Orders to Fleet Training Group, San Diego, brought Commander Jefferson ashore. In l956 he was ordered back to sea as Fire Control officer of the U,S,S, F,D. ROOSE- VELT QCVA-42j. One year later he was selected to attend the Naval War College. This was followed by a tour of duty in the Fleet Operations Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. In l959 he returned to sea duty as Commanding Officer and then Executive Officer of the U.S.S. BAUSELL S-DD-8455 and then as Commanding Officer oft eU,S,S, BAUER CDE-10255. On August l0, 1963, he assumed command of U,S,S, ROBISON QDDG- l2j having relieved Commander D. V, Cox, In the early years after WWII Comman- der Jefferson served in China and Japan. He participated in the Korean conflict. In l962 he received the Secretary of the Navy Achieve- ment Award for the development of a visual projection system called TIPS. Commander Jefferson is married to the former Sylvia M, Rutledge of San Diego, California, They have two children, Gregory and Karen.
