Lowery Supervising Principal Thomas Slanina Custodian The students of Robinson High School appreciate the eftorts of our School Board to provide the educational facilities and equipment necessary in carrying out the program. Frequently the many good deeds accomplished by a school board are taken for granted. We believe that our School Board is doing everything possible toward making scholastic conditions adequate. ln particular we believe it is fitting to mention the long years of service of Dr. John Wesley Burkett. Dr. Burkett was elected a member of the School Board in 1908 and remained on the board until the period of World War l. After serving his country he was again elected a director in 1920 and has been a member of the board ever since, a period of thirty-six years of service. Ot this time Dr. Burkett served tive years as secretary of the board and about eighteen years as president. OFFICERS Presudent John Sustarsuc Vuce Presudent Anthony Carusto Secretary Irma Rungel Treasurer Clara Rosenberger 1934 was a memorable year Franklun D Roosevelt had completed hus f1rst year as Presudent sugns of returnung prosperuty were evudent and last but not least the 1946 Class had entered school As prumary pupuls members of the class enloyed playung un the sandbox and cuttung out paper dolls Elementary school days wull be remembered for many thungs among whuch are spellung bees wrutung contests skuppung rope and playung marbles In September 1940 we entered Junuor Hugh School Here for the f1rst tume our class had the pleasure of takung home economucs for the gurls and shop for the boys Our f1rst treasury money was earned by sellung seeds ln the eughth grade we worked hard to f1nance our banquet Thus was the occasuon of a most enloyable tume Wull we ever forget the specual table for bashful boys at the eughth grade banquet? Perhaps the most umportant day of our class career was that day un Septem ber 1942 on whuch we entered Hugh School Then our class consusted off1fty sux members all of whom were very actuve Durung our sophomore year the class very successfully sponsored a movue Early un our uunuor year we had the supreme pleasure of selectung our class rungs All class members cooperated heartuly un sellung mulk and candy un order to flnance our banquet un May Dances and movues also helped us un accumu latung suff1cuent funds for thus great event the Junuor Senuor Banquet After sev eral weeks of preparatuon the banquet was held at the Punes The affaur was a the arruval of our class rungs but also the grand and loyous celebratuon of V E Day September 7 1945 thurty sux members of the class entered the halls of R H S as senuors We looked forward to the actuvutues of the year and un addu tuon to the return of sports and athletucs that had been duscontunued durung the War Emergency Class members sold pennants The Magazune campaugn can ducted by the class proved to be of much benefit to our treasury November 16 was the date of our class play Mumba Jumbo whuch un our beluef was one of the best senuor plays un the hustory of our school A flr tree glustened wuth ucucles and spucy Chrustmas greens created a holuday settung for our Chrustmas Ball The hughlught of the evenung was the vusut of Santa Claus lMr McMuchaeIJ who brought gufts for all the senuors and theur guests Before partung on thus last nught of the old year together we gathered around the lughted tree and sang our favorute Chrustmas Carols The selectuon of announcements and name cards and the measurung for caps and gowns made us realuze that graduatuon was not far off Cant you pucture Mr McCullough on hus knees measurung Snutz and on hus tap toes measurung Fred? Our boys partucupated un all sports and the gurls took part un the Tru Hu Y chorus and cheerleadung We are proud of our school record and un years to come we wull look back and remember our happy school days Ro un U O .
