Brain washing specialized in foreign language. FOREIGN LANGUAGE With all 1972 teachers returning this year and additional materials and equipment purchased through last year’s doughnut sales, the Foreign Language center has shown great potential. This year’s innovations saw Miss Keefe and Mrs. Eisenhower team¬ teaching French II classes. A new course, Spanish conversation, entered the curriculum. While all students worked in standard class units, a greater emphasis was placed on individual help in smaller groups. Self-pacing projects were available to students whose skill and initiative warranted this approach. Two major problems had to be coped with — classes were overcrowded and teachers had to commute to Fairfax High to teach Robinson’s displaced seventh graders. Future plans involve a course offering for seventh and eighth grades called “Port of Call”, in which students will be introduced to the languages of four countries, with emphasis on words and phrases useful to the traveler. 93
