Rita M. Stone, Principal What’s lively, involved, and numbers 600+ ninth and tenth graders from O through Z? School IV, that’s what! A visitor pass¬ ing through the yellow-blue locker area would most certainly find a variety of activity — as early as 7:15 a.m. some students are sit¬ ting at the study carrels grappling with those last geometry problems before hurring off to class; a more lively but equally in¬ tent group is already into the second card game of the day, and a stop by the faculty workroom often reveals a busy mixture of students and teachers. There’s a refreshing unity and pride in School IV — the sort of togetherness that prompts both students and teachers to donate part of their lunch time to make flowers for the homecoming float, the sort of togetherness that made “the Whale of a Decade’’ a whale of success as the winner of the first Robinson float com¬ petition. This same pride is also evident as the various teaching teams attempt to organize the very best programs in English, math, social studies and science. Aware that people learn in many ways, the faculty offers a variety of learning strategies. A Robinson day ends for some with a bus ride home at 2:30, but for many others in School IV the day is starting anew. Some are rehearsing for THE CRUCIBLE, some are playing basket¬ ball, some are wrestling, others are assisting on the math tutor team, or making their very own film for English class. What’s lively and involved? School IV! —Rita M. Stone, Principal School IV COMPETITION 279
