CROSS COUNTRY First Place, District It takes a certain type of stamina and mental attitude. The cross country runner is alone in his effort, unaided by cheering fans. The struggle to be first over a course of two-and-a-half miles of rugged terrain is a true test of strength and endurance — heart, lungs, and legs strain with every footfall. This season it paid off. Coach Wells’ varsity runners won the district first place trophy, were second in the county meet, fourteenth in the top twenty-six state teams, and were undefeated in dual meets. Bob Brewer 144
