Allison. American Legion Awards l llllll..l is 5 Allison Award ROBIN McCARTER Robin McCarter was the recipient of the 1972 Allison Award. Other nominees were Steve Hanna, Jon Hoalt, and Mike Steele. To be eligible for this award, a boy must be a Senior letterman in the upper half of his class and chosen on the basis of the students' character, leadership, citizenship, and service. The fact that Robin was a two year letterman and voted Most Valuable Player lbasketballl for the 1971-72 season also contributed to his being chosen for this award. The award is given in honor of Lt. Robert C. Allison. American Legion Award MIKE GOODWIN Recipients of the American Legion Awards for the 1971-72 school year were Mindy Johnson and Mike Goodwin. This award is given annually under the sponsorship of the local American Legion Post 369. Qualities considered were courage, leadership, honor, scholarship, service, and patriotism. Kathy lknayan and Robin McCarter received honorable mention. Mike's service as manager and trainer of all athletic teams and Mindy's leadership as editor-in- chief of the Robinillo contributed to their being chosen for this award. Seniors Receive Special Awards This year the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award was presented to Keith Crane. A bronze medal was given to a graduating Senior who has achieved the best record of science studies during high school. The requirements are one year of biology, two years of chemistry, and one year of either physics or anatomy and physiology. The award was based on science and math grade achievements. The 1972 winners of the DAR and SAR awards were Rhonda Seed and Steve Hanna. Six students were nominated by the Senior Class and voted upon by the faculty.
