Judge Roy Bean, the law West of Pecos, has declared Orin Powers must hang for the shooting up of a poster of his beloved Lily Langtry, the famed frontier actress. The sentence has the town of Langtry, Texas in a stew. Bad men want Orin to swing, and good citizens want him to live. Only one thing will save the unfortunate lad, the appearance of Lily herself. Rhonda Sauls, recording secretary, Clifford Graves, president, Teresa Mitchell, vice-president, Brent Battershell, treasurer, Mr. Cork, sponsor, Tommie Hardin, corresponding secretary, Mark Allen, state president. Otticers Student Senate Sponsor. Every school has its council made up of students who serve as representatives for each of the classes, and together represent the student body as a whole. This organization at RHS is the Student Senate, headed this year by Mr. Tony Cork, faculty sponsor, and Clifford Graves, president. The main purpose is to assemble representatives from the students to voice opinions concerning the functioning ofthe school, and hopefully the betterment of it. Cooperation among the remaining maiority of the students is necessary and is sought by all the hardworking members. The fulfillment of the goals can only be attained by hard work and our Student Senate does its part, though a unity within the school seems to be lacking. All profit made by the Senate is used for a good purpose: half of the cost is usually paid for the state workshops in August, and district workshops. The Senate receives some, but very little, revenue from the Carnival, by leasing places to all the other clubs. Seventeen RHS Senate members attended the District Convention in November at Charleston. The State Convention was held in April at Chicago. This year Mark Allen served as State Student Council President. Mark worked with the State Student Council in achieving Student rights and responsibilities which would govern the rights of students all over Illinois. Senate officers and members deserve recognition if not honor, for their unselfish work within the school system and state. Cheers for Senior Lettermen The outstanding performance of the Senior Lettermen during the l97l -72 school year deserves special recognition. Their individual and combined achievements of their four years of high school have set records for others to follow or break. The picture below represents only a portion of those who have lettered in either football, baseball, cross-country, track, basketball, or golf. Those of the student body who have cheered them on during the years share in honoring them at this time. The requirements are one year of biology, two years of chemistry, and one year of either physics or anatomy and physiology. The award was based on science and math grade achievements. The 1972 winners of the DAR and SAR awards were Rhonda Seed and Steve Hanna. Six students were nominated by the Senior Class and voted upon by the faculty. To be eligible for this award, a boy must be a Senior letterman in the upper half of his class and chosen on the basis of the students' character, leadership, citizenship, and service. The fact that Robin was a two year letterman and voted Most Valuable Player lbasketballl for the 1971-72 season also contributed to his being chosen for this award. The award is given in honor of Lt. Robert C. Allison. American Legion Award MIKE GOODWIN Recipients of the American Legion Awards for the 1971-72 school year were Mindy Johnson and Mike Goodwin. This award is given annually under the sponsorship of the local American Legion Post 369. Qualities considered were courage, leadership, honor, scholarship, service, and patriotism. Kathy lknayan and Robin McCarter received honorable mention. Mike's service as manager and trainer of all athletic teams and Mindy's leadership as editor-in- chief of the Robinillo contributed to their being chosen for this award. Q ff! e if' fm li School Board Plans New School Mr. Robert Whitmer is president of the Robinson School Board. Along with the P.C.A., o problems committee, the board struggles each year with the problem over the open-campus issue. They still did not come to a decision and so for the time being, it has been ruled out. A new middle school is in the future and the board worked diligently for the progress of planning ond building of it. Robert Whitmer Ralph Lgve Members look toward new school. Beffy Graves Roy Midgen M0Wln Stillwell Glenn Tilton Orville Johnson The Administration at Work Clyde Corn Mr. Corn smiles goodbye. Carl House Mr. House makes inquiries. Gene Manuel Mr. Manuel works ardently. Clyde C. Corn completed his sixth year as superintendent of Unit District i'F2. The people of the district approved the building of a middle school to house grades 6, 7, and 8, and also the construction of a building to house auto mechanics and school bus maintenence. ln addition to his duties of supervision and management, Mr. Corn has been involved in these constructions. The theme of the T972 Robinillo focuses upon change keeping with the trend of our world today. Certainly the tide of change is present today not excluding the world of education. Schools are seeking to meet these changes. Class of T972 has witnessed considerable change in expanding curriculum, opportunities for choice, voice in governance, and development for responsibilities. Classes in future, no doubt, will see many changes as the schools attempt to serve the changing role and status of young people in our society. Carl E. House gives his heartiest congratulations to the class of 1972 and wishes them continued happiness and success. Gene Manuel, Assistant Principal, was primarily concerned with behavior, attendance of students, and policies about the new study halls. He was also responsible for scheduling and planning athletic programs and contests. These being a few of his tasks, he was never too busy to answer questions, or help in any way a student at RHS. After working with the boys as head coach for only two years, Reeder has been able to build them into a fine team of athletes. One of Robinson's most outstanding seasons was achieved by his efforts and the team members, members of which were: seniors, Mike Steele, Robin McCarter, Terry Wampler, Steve Knight, Jon Hoalt, and Frank Walton, and iuniors, Mac McCracken, and Joe Brotherton. Robinson participated in the Danville Holiday Tournament, the Regional Tournament at Olney, and won the Apollo Conference championship. Mike Steele received the honor of being named as a member of the honorary All-State team, and Robin McCarter received honorable mention. Steele was also named Best Defensive player for 1971-72. McCarter was named Most Valuable Player. At the basketball banquet, held in March, two members were announced for holding the team's records for the season.
