D. A. R. During her four years, Waunita Ferguson has participated in many activities that have led up to her high standing in our class. Having been in G. A. A. for four years, she developed an interest in sports, which provided a good background for her three years in news- paper work. Waunita started out in Drama Club her Freshman year. She then went on into Thespians and speech contest work. Latin Club and Pep Club were two more interests that Waunita had during her four years. She was honored by being the head usher at Commence- ment her junior year. Waunita’s newspaper work made her eligible for Quill and Scroll. All of these facts account for Waunita’s being chosen for the D. A. R. award. Three boys and three girls are selected by the members of the senior class. After considering the requirements which are leadership, dependa- bility, service, and patriotism the faculty choses one boy and one girl to receive the awards. The S. A. R. award is given by The Daughters of the American Revo- lution through permission of the Sons of the American Revolution. S.A. R. Danny Stoltz, who has been an outstanding leader all during high school, won the recognition by participating in all the activities and doing things to help other people. Dan has always been interested in sports and has proved this several ways. He has lettered in football, basketball and track and he has worked with the sports section of the newspaper for three years. Dan’s newspaper work led to his member- ship in Quill and Scroll and he was also very active in the Hi-Y Club. At the end of Dan’s Sophomore year he received the honor of being selected to go to Boy’s State. In Dan’s junior year he tied with another boy for head usher at commencement. Danny also won third place in the Elks Essay Contest and was vice president of the senior class. It can easily be seen why Danny was chosen for the S. A. R. award. Page 80

Our Queen Candidate repre- sented the class very well at the Carnival finale. We chose as our play a dramatic production, “A Man Called Peter.” The highlight of the year was the 1956 Junior- Senior Prom. Our theme was “Club Paree.” Page 1
