Published By Senior Class OF Robinson High School Co-Editors Janet Marbry Jennie Holmes Business Manager Janice McKiernan — | ee oe Robinson High School Our school, Robinson High School, has a well-planned campus of thirty-one acres. Many changes have taken place since this land was first used for school pur- poses. First came the main building in 1910, then in 1920 they added a vocational building. The main building burned down in 1921, but was rebuilt and ready for use in the fall of 1922. In 1939 our fine gymnasium was completed. This building is used for community activities as well as the school’s. With an increase in enrollment there came the need for more buildings. In 1954 the finishing touches were put on 28 new classrooms, a farm shop, a new industrial arts shop as well as a new cafeteria and girls gym. Many of these new classrooms are used to house the 7th and 8th grades making our school a six-year high school. Page 3 Table Of Contents Bitletaiease: Ube 2). a eo. Page 4 The crowning of the Queen is the highlight of the annual Carnival. In early fall pigskins, pennants, and bright lights adorn the foot- ball field for the greatest of sports. The Senior class put on a humor- ous play all about a typical high school girl. The Thanksgiving Program showed the origin of the holiday. The advanced speech class pre- sented a radio program every week. Page 5 A highlight of the year is the Christmas dinner with all the trimmings. Both parents and students en- joyed going to school the night of Open House. Page 6 The chorus furnished the back- ground for the _ inspirational Christmas program. Screams and shrieks are always heard at the favorite indoor sport, basketball. Recognize anyone! It is doubtful since this is the Ministrel Mood of the Musical Mood. One of the programs everyone enjoyed this year was the Wabash College Men’s Chorus. Page 7 j 1 | 4 fae Cheering the team on to victory. Page 8 In the spring out come the track boys full of energy. The Hi-Y’s annual Easter pro- gram was very inspirational. The 1955 Prom Queen was crowned in the midst of a South- ern Garden. Prom night is the big night for every Junior and Senior. The band and chorus combined theic efforts for two concerts this year. Activities « BOTTOM ROW: P. Lutz, C. Crabtree, L. Reinoehl, J. Marbry, J. Holmes, C. Moore, L. Blair, B. LaFief, M. Ramsey, M. We have made donations to Father Flanagan’s Boys Town, Bald Nob Cross, and many organizations such as these. We have organized and presented the annual Easter Program and also other religious programs. Each boy is an individual working as a leader through out the school, showing christian lead- ership. The purpose of the club is to promote ath- letics in Robinson High School. This year as one of the activities, the club traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, to see the Indiana-Iowa basketball game. To raise funds for the club, the members sold concessions at the Regional basketball Tournament which was held in Robinson. ; Page 66 : Treasurer: L. Blair V. President: D. Stoltz Page 67 Senior Section OFFICERS President: G. Rich Secretary: B. Bashears Taking a backward glance over the past four years, we sen- iors find many pleasant mem- ories. One of the most import- ant memories of our senior year was the crowning of a Senior Carnival Queen, Rosalie Milam. The honorary DAR and SAR awards were presented to Wau- nita Ferguson and Dan Stoltz. Betty Bashears was honored by receiving the new American Legion Good Citizenship Award which was presented for the first time. Our prom “Southern Gardens,” which required many hours of hard but successful work, high- lighted our junior year. The class plays we presented during our junior and senior years made us realize the im- portance of co-operation, which has been a great asset to us. Our freshman and sophomore years were filled with the par- ticipation in the Carnival and many other extra-curricular ac- tivities. Passing through the doors of Robinson High School for the last time as a student, we bid it and the faculty a fond farewell. Here we have spent four years sharing joys and sorrows, tri- umphs and defeats. It is hard to say “Goodbye” to a place that has meant so much to us. During her four years, Waunita Ferguson has participated in many activities that have led up to her high standing in our class. Having been in G. A. A. for four years, she developed an interest in sports, which provided a good background for her three years in news- paper work. Waunita started out in Drama Club her Freshman year. She then went on into Thespians and speech contest work. Latin Club and Pep Club were two more interests that Waunita had during her four years. She was honored by being the head usher at Commence- ment her junior year. Waunita’s newspaper work made her eligible for Quill and Scroll. All of these facts account for Waunita’s being chosen for the D. A. R. award. Three boys and three girls are selected by the members of the senior class. After considering the requirements which are leadership, dependa- bility, service, and patriotism the faculty choses one boy and one girl to receive the awards. The S. A. R. award is given by The Daughters of the American Revo- lution through permission of the Sons of the American Revolution. S.A. R. Danny Stoltz, who has been an outstanding leader all during high school, won the recognition by participating in all the activities and doing things to help other people. Dan has always been interested in sports and has proved this several ways. He has lettered in football, basketball and track and he has worked with the sports section of the newspaper for three years. Dan’s newspaper work led to his member- ship in Quill and Scroll and he was also very active in the Hi-Y Club. At the end of Dan’s Sophomore year he received the honor of being selected to go to Boy’s State. In Dan’s junior year he tied with another boy for head usher at commencement. Danny also won third place in the Elks Essay Contest and was vice president of the senior class. It can easily be seen why Danny was chosen for the S. A. R. award.
