August Zlstz Successful ice cream social was held by the seniors, benefit of the Nucleus. September Sth: Forty-six new students start- ed their preliminary training. llth: Annual Corn Roast was held at Hammond 's Cottage. October lst: Miss N. A. Smith, R.N., Di- rf-ctress ot Nursing celebrated her 20th Anniversary at the Robt. Packer Hospital. Sth: Dr. Geo. VV. Hawk marked his 30th anniversary at the R. P. H. 14th: Supper Party held for the Baptist Nurses by-the Sarepta Society of the Sayre Baptist Church. Qlst: Nineteen junior students from Mansfield State Teachers' Col- lege were conducted o11 a tour thru the Hospital. 27th: Twenty-one Packer nurses entertained by the Class of the Meth- odist Church. 30th: Annual Hallowelen party and Initiation of Probies was held in the Nurses, Home Gym. November 15th: Catholic nurses entertained by the Court of St. Mary at Jenkins, Inn. December l5th: Episcopal nurses attended a Christmas Party given by the St. Maryis Guild. 23rd: Annual Christmas Party in the Nurses, Home Gym for the stu- dents. f January 18th: At an impressive candle- .-uninni 1nu1u1nn1nn-un-nn-The Nucleus 1942 1942 light service the members of the pre- liminary class received their caps. February 3rd: Miss Gertrude Barbour re- signed her position as Supervisor on Children's VVard to enter the U. S. Army Nurse Corps. 9th: Miss Eloise Powers assumed the duties of Supervisor on Children is Ward. March 5th 1 Dr. J. VV. J. Carpender, M.D., fellow in Roentgenology left the R. P. H. for the U. S. Navy. 17th: St. Patrick 's Day Dance held in the Nurses' Home for the benefit of the Nucleus Fund. 23rd: Dr. and Mrs. NVm. Ramsey were the proud parents of a son. April lst: Miss Mary Lenker, Dietitian, resigned her position. 22nd: A son was born to Dr. and Mrs. R. L. Evans. May lst: Annual May Day Breakfast for night nurses was held at the Shep- ard Hills Country Club. Miss Eleanor Mathewson, Dietitian, resigned her duties and was succeeded by Miss Louise Morgan. 12th : M. Louise Snyder, R.N. educational State Board advisor made annual visit to our school of nursing. 7th: Daughter was born to Dr. and Mrs. S. Paul Perry. llth: Dr. A. Olsen, M.D., Neuro- Surgeon, left the R. P. H. to do his duty for the U. S. Navy. 15th: Dr. S. Paul Perry, M.D., associate in Roentgenology left the Robert Packer Hosp. Staff for the U. S.
