Pre lM?llf'.5' Messe e E, the members of the class of 1942, are now approaching' an eagerly anticipated event, the climax of our many Varied du- ties and activities here. Vilith high hopes and noble ideals, we came to this hospital, confident that in zealous service to humanity, we could find happiness a11d contentment. Although doubts have often as- sailed us of our capacity to accomplish our tasks, there have also been moments of elation at other tasks well done and courage so gained to continue. Glimpsing' back, we see in nursing duties the opportunities to do with one's own hands-to soothe a fevered brow or to smooth a crumpled pillow with calm sure purpose. The rustling' of a stiffly starched uniform as the nurse hurries down the dimly lighted halls on night duty brings vivid memory of precious moments. VVe remember friendships built on the tirm foun- dations of mutual interests in an absorbing' work. Never-to-be-forgotten incidents of fun-dances and parties, with amiable disagreements over their prep- aration, bedtime chats, so dear to every girlts heart, and coveted trips home-all these linger be- hind as the essence of life off duty. To all those who have given so much of infinite wisdom and boundless patience in our guidance to the understanding' of the true precepts of a worthy nurse, we leave the hope that they shall be well satisfied with our future ,progress toward that goal. To those who follow, we leave the hope that they will find satisfaction and happiness in a profession that offers a haven to the suffering' of a chaotic world.
