Reporter's Club The Reporters' Club, under the sponsor- ship of Miss Cubley, is comprised of eight girls who are good English students. Each week the girls interview their assigned teachers who give them news. After the articles are written up, they are sent to the town newspapers to be published. The social activities ofthe club included a trip to New York to see a leading Broad- way play. Highlights One ofthe most valuable assets to student life in any school is a newspaper. lt is a spark which through information kindles interest in the common efforts of the school community. lts benefits are felt especially by the staff members who not only receive training in writing and journalism but also learn the basic skill of doing a iob well. Highlights, directed by Miss Lynch, literary ad- viser, and Mr. Wesley Puetz, financial adviser, Card Keller, editor-in-chief and Melvin Fritz, busi- ness manager, has undertaken this difficult task. This year Highlights, although beset with in- numerable difticulties, put out a number of good issues complete with news, throught-provoking edi- torials, and lively feature columns. Our school newspaper deserves credit tor another year of service. HIGHLIGHTS STAFF OFFICERS Sitting lleft to rightt: M. Fritz, Miss Lynch, C. Keller, S. Wein. Standing fleft to rightj: J. Kurt, J. The first show of the year had for its theme what the classes in Simpson High School would be like torty years from now. Remember the reducing class and the class on howto snag a man? The Christmas show was equally successful. Who will ever forget Artie Manaro's imitation? This organization was the first to participate in the exchange assem- blies. They traveled to South Huntington to put on a show.
