History . . . For Freedom, Our Hearts Will Sing MRS. PHYLLIS PUTNAM Department Chairman American history is the theme for seventh and eighth grade students. Seventh graders study from the Ren¬ aissance to the Civil War, eighth graders from the Civil War to present day. Students learned to form hypo¬ thesis and from them gather conclu¬ sions. Also, a student reference room was assembled, containing books, records, filmstrips, and games for student use. Here students did group work and played the various history games. MRS. Two And Two Make Four Seem To Always, MR. JAMES ALLISON Department Chairman The main topics presented in the seventh grade math program were addition, subtraction, multiplication and division with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, integers, and measurements. These same topics were presented in greater depth in the eighth grade. Also, many eighth grade students were exposed to alge¬ bra this year, either for part of the year or for the entire year. 8
