The Best We Could Sub-School A Sub-SchoolB Representatives Student Cooperative Association Officers The S.C.A. objectives for 1970-71 were to promote harmonious relations throughout the school. Students worked to improve relationships with teachers, direct school activities, and develop a general sense of re¬ sponsibility within themselves. Mr. Bell and Miss Ferrell have spent much time and effort sponsoring this school¬ wide activity. Members of all the committees who helped with S.C.A. activities are pictured on these two pages. i ( i Social Committee Eighth Grade Seventh Grade Installation of Officers Cafeteria Committee Promotes School Harmony Bulletin Board Committee Intercom Committee P.B.X. But what we do know is that they worked in con¬ junction with the drama club this year as well as performed for assemblies. They also formed the major group for the spring musical. What would we ever do if they migrated? I Drama, Music, Art The 1970-1971 symphonic band has showed us what a band can really sound like when the members put hard work into it. They made our assemblies more ex¬ citing and represented us in festivals, public performances, and in competition with other bands in Northern Virginia. Sponsored by Mr. Hoffman, the band in¬ cludes 76 students in all. They are pic-- tured here both in rehearsal and at an assembly performance. 1 The Art Club was of general help to the whole school this year. They helped with the drama club productions by doing the scenery. Mrs. Byers and Mrs. Burke, sponsors of the club, were in charge of changing the front showcase. . . . A Chance For All To Take A Part. The sponsors of the 1970-1971 drama productions were Mrs. Frick and Mrs. Needham. The three plays held gave participants experience in acting. Acting, scenery, and costumes were superb. BELOW, members of the cast of MUMBO JUMBO pose for photographs at dress rehearsal. Journalism Club Sponsored by Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Holaday, members of the Journalism Club published monthly issues of Frost REVELATION, the school newspaper, and worked diligently to produce this Memory Book. Meeting each Tuesday after school, they put in long hours to make Frost students proud of their school publications. Foreign Language Clubs The French Club was sponsored by Mrs. O ' Malley and the president was Rowena Barron, During the year they gave parties, visited a restaurant and the French Embassy, wrote to pen pals, and decorated the library for the November P.T.A. The Spanish Club, sponsored by Mrs. McGovern, also helped decorate the library for Back-to-School Night, One of the highlights of the Spanish Club was a pinata party held at Christmas time. The library on Back-to-School Night. Chess Club Library Club Sponsored by Miss Huffman, chess club members practiced during the fall by playing all the other members in the club. In the spring, tournaments were held. The spokesman for the club was Kevin Williams. Assemblies . . . And Even More Assemblies! ! Under the direction of Mrs. Davis, more and I better assemblies were presented to Frost stu- 1 dents. In the fall, students were delighted to hear I the Woodson band and chorus. During the winter i months, a karate demonstration had all enthralled. ; In the spring assemblies included a drama pro¬ duction, a preview of the spring musical, and a fashion show of home sewing by Simplicity for ■the eighth grade girls. I i Ecology Club Sponsored by Mrs. Makowka and Mrs. Steele, the Ecology Club met weekly with the purpose of conquer¬ ing pollution. The Seventh and Eighth grade members had many ideas on how to go about overcoming the problem. The following are some of them: a Polluter of the Month Award to Companies endangering the environment, a clean-up-the-School Campaign with posters and articles, and an Ecology column in the newspaper. Industrial Arts Club Safety Is First . . . With Our School Patrols Patrol Officers The Green Penant A Final Glimpse The 1970-71 Robert Frost Memory Book is meant to be that , , . a book that will preserve your.most precious memories of our school. On these preceding pages you may find pictures of events which helped form your ideas and morals, school clubs or organizations that gave you a deeper appreciation of your youth, and people who helped you decide which paths to follow while working your way to adulthood. These pages represent the years in which you had to decide whether to become responsible American citizen, or follow another path. We sincerely hope that Robert Frost Intermediate has helped you reach the right decision. The Journalism Staff and Sponsors wish all of Frost ' s students happiness and success in the future, and hope that this momento of your school years which they have prepared here will bring back all the memories which we have all shared. S__ Acknowledgements Compiling the Memory Book is a joint effort of students and faculty members. Certainly all the student members of the Journalism Club should be congratulated for a job well done, and receive admiration from their fellow students for their diligence and hard work. There are also other people who deserve a special note of thanks. Our photographers, Ernie Wade and Dr. Bowen, spent numerous hours behind the camera, trying to recapture precious memories seen throughout these pages. Mrs. Mary Ruth Monday, our school ' s financial secre- tary, perservered through three weeks of the subscription drive, collecting funds and keeping records, Mrs, Dorothy Byers, one of our art teachers, helped with the cover design and art sug¬ gestions, Finally, our thanks goes to our two Journalism Club sponsors, Mrs. Karen Hamilton and Mrs. Sarah Holaday, who devoted their time and energy in directing the staff both in the preparation of the Memory Book and the publication of each issue of the school newspaper. A special note of thanks to our photographers, Ernie Wade and Dr, Bowen.
